A Message from H. E. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bawardi, the Secretary General to the Executive Council.

The move towards establishing the Abu Dhabi Award for Government Excellence came as a natural response to the inevitable need for change required by the Government leadership to achieve Excellence in organizational performance in terms of the services given to all stakeholders. 

The provision of excellent government services leading to people and employee satisfaction will inevitably contribute to overall society satisfaction through creating a positive impact on it, socially, economically, environmentally and politically.

It goes without saying, that the most effective and approved methodology to achieve such aims and objective is Total Quality Management & Excellence illustrated by the Award model upon which the Abu Dhabi award for Government Excellence is built. The model starts with highlighting Leadership as a driving force that pertains to people management, development and care so that their abilities to meet their organization’s operational requirements is enhanced and well maintained. The second major criterion in the model is Policy & Strategy formulated by the Leadership of the organization and should be based on facts and detailed information and supported by the appropriately selected organizations structure. The model also emphasizes the role of the organizational people (employees) and the need to fully release their potential as well as achieve optimum utilization of other resources both material and financial coupled with creating a work environment that is conducive to friendship and higher levels of productivity.

The Fifth category of the model focuses on the need to improve and develop work procedures through raising its standards, reducing its production cost via elimination of waste and wasteful activities of any form or shape. Moreover, optimum utilization of technology, innovation and creativity tools and techniques are key to achieving simplified procedures, effective and efficient work practices.

The overall model framework encourages knowledge and learning activities as there is no substitute for knowledge but the knowledge itself.

Finally, its important to point out that the Abu Dhabi Award for Government Excellence is not a competition tournament that may be won by some and lost by the others, nor indeed a random selection of winners; instead it’s a developmental integrated framework that provides a world class Road Map to help you find your way on the journey to excellence. This Road map is built upon the state of the art knowledge and experience so that it provides our local government departments with the shortest route to fullest recovery and total development.

Its also noteworthy at this juncture to remember that the advent of the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance represents a transformational move to all participating government departments, especially those who may not be qualified to win the award in the first instance. They can make best use of the Feedback Reports offered by the Award Office at the General Secretariat. Such feedback reports are prepared by the national and international experts teams of assessors who are highly qualified and fully independent and devoted to highlight your key Strengths and certainly key Areas for Improvements so that you may start choosing your improvement projects. With such improvement initiatives and projects the true and blessed journey to Quality and Excellence in Government Performance called upon by our Wise and Visionary Leadership will start and draw the headlines of our Renaissance and Total development campaign for the Government of Abu Dhabi.
